You just walked out of a Prometric testing center. You feel horrible! You have to wait almost 2 months until your board results will be available. What now?
Well, I can help you with that. Just live one day at a time. Try not to worry about the test. The results will come. ABP usually releases results on the 1st Tuesday of December. So, now you have almost 2 months to just enjoy life.
First, take a break! Take a VACATION! Yes, we are in the midst of COV-19 but you still need a break. Take a least a day or two off from work to just breathe! You did it! You studied and you took the boards. Don't sweat!
After you are back from your vacation, now time to return to your normal daily living. Enjoy time with family, friends, and all the things you may have neglected over the last 3-10 months of studying.
Now, you have gotten back into your normal routines, please do not worry yourself! The scores will come out soon enough. I promise. No need to worry and drive up your anxiety levels. Just relax and ENJOY LIFE!
If you are reading this blog now because those results have posted and you PASSED --> Congratulations! I'm so proud of you! You are BOARD-CERTIFIED! You did it! Amazing! Go celebrate! Turn up!
Now, if you are reading and you did not pass this year. Do not stress, this is just your journey, not your final production. You will get through this! If I am here, you will be too! So, what now? Take a breathe! Breath! Talk a walk! Cry! Let it out! Do whatever you need to do! I promise you that this journey will pass.
So, even though you did not pass this year......does not mean you will never pass. YOU GOT THIS! Take a break. Take a vacation. Take at least 1 day off from work to just get your mental thoughts together. You have worked the last 8-12 years for this journey of becoming a board certified pediatrician. Your dreams are not over, this is just a part of your final production!
Take a week, re-group. By middle of December, start thinking about what to do next? How will you study next year for this exam? Give yourself a deadline to start studying (January). Now, it is time to make a plan and stick to it. It will be hard! There will be ups and downs.
Do you struggle with making study plans/schedules? Do you want someone to do all the planning for you? Let us take one thing off your plate, so you can just focus on your studies! You got this.
